I’ve been thinking about the garden of Eden lately. How Adam and Eve existed before the fall. They walked among the trees and animals that they named and had dominion over while being in fellowship with God. When they disobeyed by taking a bite of the forbidden fruit, they were suddenly made aware of their nakedness and immediately became ashamed. This led them to cover up. Humanity has been covering up their shame ever since.

My favorite scripture is Psalm 139. It starts with the reminder that although we hid from God and men, He still knows us in and out. And deep down, although we hide underneath our masks He fulfills our deepest desire of being known completely and intimately without fear of being judged or left. I imagine that both man and God have been trying since that fall to return to Eden again. The place our hearts and souls were laid bare with one another and we believed in the love and acceptance of our Father. This is a place where we could work, create and love in complete freedom.
