Broken Hearts

I wrote last week about trusting God with the plans for my future. As I have been confronting this issue of my heart, I have come to realize that I hold a lot of things up as idols in my heart and how easily broken I am by them.

When our whole hearts are set upon a certain expectation, plan, or person, sometimes God has to break our hearts. Much like a broken bone in our body, He allows us to feel the discomfort of the breaking. As we heal, He then provides us with the soothing ointment that eases the pain while we wait for total healing so that finally our heart can be set upon the correct thing. Him. Seek Him first and all of these things will be added unto you.

This is the hope that we can latch onto in the midst of the hurt. Jesus knows our hearts and where our desires truly lie. We have to trust Him with that.
